SongMakers Academy applications open early 2025
The SongMakers Academy is a new and extremely exciting opportunity for 16 students who have taken part in our Victorian school workshop program during terms 1, 2 and 3 during 2024.
The Academy of students will work with our professional industry mentors who will assist them in writing and producing three songs in three days at a professional recording studio in Melbourne during the September school holidays. This will build on the in-school workshop experience, further extend their networks, skills and exposure to real-world industry experiences in the vibrant, cultural hub of Melbourne.
Applications will open in March 2024.
If successful applicants are based in Regional Victoria, there will be travel and accommodation assistance offered.
What is SongMakers Academy?
The SongMakers Academy is a new and exciting opportunity for 16 young songwriters who participated in the Victorian SongMakers workshops in 2023 and 2024. During an intensive 3 days under the mentorship of industry professionals, participants will write, produce, and record three original songs in professional recording studios in Melbourne’s inner north.
Where is SongMakers Academy?
The SongMakers Academy will take place across 3 professional recording studios in Collingwood – including Rolling Stock Studios and Carriage Studio.
When is SongMakers Academy?
The SongMakers Academy is on October 1, 2 and 3, 2024 (the second week of the Spring School Holidays).
Please note, you must be able to attend the whole program from 9am-4:30pm October 1-3.
How much does it cost?
The SongMakers Academy is free for all participants.
If you live in a regional area of Victoria and are successful in your application, your travel and accommodation costs will be covered for you and a guardian for the 3 days in Melbourne. If you require accommodation, you must have a guardian stay with you.
Accessibility
One of the recording studios has wheelchair access through the shopfront below with a lift directly into the studio. Please let us know if you have any specific accessibility requirements. We’re here to make it a great program for all participants.

If you or someone you know has participated in a Victorian SongMakers School workshop or Holiday Program in 2023 or 2024 and between the ages of 16-21, you/they are eligible to apply for the first ever SongMakers Academy! Applications are open from July 3 and close 11:59pm Sunday the 1st of September.
