Register your interest in SongMakers - a trail-blazing, contemporary music initiative nurturing students’ creativity and team skills.

SongMakers is now inviting Expressions of Interest from schools across NSW.

Through an immersive two-day workshop, NSW music students collaborate with acclaimed Australian songwriters and producers, who guide them through the process of writing, recording, and producing an original song from concept to completion.

The New South Wales SongMakers Program is presented by APRA AMCOS with generous support from Sound NSW.

What
we do

Over 2 consecutive days, prominent Australian songwriters and music producers work with young creatives to write and record new songs.

Students gain hands on experience of the music industry while learning the transferrable skills of working in teams, pushing through comfort zones, working to deadlines and being enterprising.

71% of SongMakers NSW participants reported increased confidence as songwriters following participation in a workshop, and over 60% of participants reported increased interest in pursuing a career in the music industry.

What happens at a workshop?

Day 1: Students work in groups of 4 with our industry professional mentors to learn songwriting techniques and write a song from scratch. They perform this song at the end of the day, ready for Day 2!

Day 2: Working to a tight deadline, students record their song with our mentors to be played back during a listening party at the end of the day.

Our flagship 2-day in-school workshop is under subsidy from APRA AMCOS, thanks to generous funding from Sound NSW. The fee balance for schools is $550 incl GST.
