Impacts of the holiday program

Over the past year, we’ve been working with Patternmakers, a leading research agency, to evaluate our school holiday program. We want to understand the impact the program is having for young people in areas like songwriting skills, knowledge of the music industry, self-expression, and wellbeing.

As part of this early evaluation, 42 workshop participants completed a survey about their experiences, and we heard from mentors and some local partners in the targeted regions too.

Here’s what we’ve found so far!

Agree the program taught them to collaborate on a song
0 %
Say they're proud of the song they made in the workshops
0 %
Say that songwriting improves their mood and wellbeing
0 %
Say that since the workshop, they have written an original song

"At the Leeton workshop, one of the mentors, Nina, was happily sharing her contacts with these young people. You can imagine what that means for them. Someone who’s well-versed in this field can spend time with them, and they can follow up with them. For some young people that’s stuff of dreams."

- Ken Dachi, Leeton Shire Council
